Birchard M. Taylor

Birchard M. Taylor is the great-great grandson of President Rutherford B. Hayes. He is the son of Malcolm A. Taylor and Margaret Lucy Hayes Taylor. Birchard’s Grandfather Taylor (Alexander J.) was a Scottish immigrant who became the biggest tailor in the city of Poughkeepsie, NY and whose business became the first in the city to be electrified. Hayes’ Grandfather, Birchard Platt Hayes, was the grandson of the 19th President of the United States, Rutherford B. Hayes. Birchard’s grandfather was the third son of the president. Birchard and President Hayes share a uniqueness in that both share the name Birchard. The president’s middle name is Birchard. Taylor is a seasoned business professional; he holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, cum laude from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a M.B.A. in Finance and Marketing from Lehigh University. He has been married for 39 years to Janine Glenn Taylor. Birchard and Janine are the proud parents of two daughters, Katherine Hayes Bechtel and Sarah Glenn Taylor. Both daughters are Veterinarians with degrees from The Ohio State University which was founded by President Hayes in 1870 as a land-grant university under the Morrill Act of 1862 as the Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College.
