Marc Watrous is the great-great-great-great grandson of Martin Van Buren, the eighth President and is passionate about preserving the history and civic ideals associated with the American presidency.
Marc has spent over 35 years in the healthcare and biopharmaceutical industry, with a career focused on helping deliver innovative medicines and improved patient access to care. He currently serves as Head of North America Commercial Transformation and New Product Launches at Sanofi. He spent more than two decades at Genentech in a variety of senior leadership roles spanning commercialization, market access, business leadership, and product development. Earlier in his career, he held roles in global pharmaceutical strategy and began his professional journey as a pharmacist.
In addition to his professional career, Marc is deeply committed to education, healthcare, and community service. He serves on the Board of Trustees of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and is also a member of the Marin Health Foundation Board and the American Association of Caregiving Youth Advisory Board.
Marc believes that service and legacy are enduring responsibilities that individuals should strive to contribute to society, their professions, and their families. He views his involvement with the Society as an opportunity to honor the legacy of his family while supporting civic engagement, historical understanding, and leadership for future generations.
Marc earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and a Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina. He is married and has three adult children.
